Amalfi Coast Wedding Venues

The Amalfi Coast trades space for drama: cliffside terraces in Ravello, lemon-grove gardens above Positano and cloisters in Amalfi itself — venues built vertically, which shapes the guest list, the timeline and the shoes.

Ravello, Positano and Amalfi

Ravello sits high above the sea and holds the coast's most photographed terraces and historic villa gardens. It is the calmest of the three towns, comfortable for seated dinners of 60 to 120 guests, and the classic choice for a ceremony with the gulf as a backdrop.

Positano is steeper and more compact: boutique hotels with terrace restaurants, beach clubs at the bottom of the town and capacities that more often top out around 60 to 80. Guest mobility matters here — hundreds of steps are unavoidable.

Amalfi and Atrani offer cathedral and cloister ceremonies with a short walk to dinner, which removes transfer logistics on the day entirely.

Legal, religious and symbolic ceremonies

Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento all hold licensed civil-ceremony venues open to foreign couples; documents pass through your local authority and the Italian consulate, so begin around six months ahead.

Catholic ceremonies in the coast's churches require a letter from your home parish and are booked well in advance. Symbolic ceremonies on a hotel terrace remain the simplest option and let you pick the exact sunset moment.

Access, timing and suppliers

Naples airport is 90 minutes to two hours away, the coast road is single-lane and congested from June to September, and large coaches cannot reach most venues. Plan minivan shuttles or a boat transfer, and pad every timing by 20 minutes.

May, June, September and early October are the strong months. August combines heat with the heaviest traffic of the year.

Because venue capacities are small, suppliers book out early. Shortlist venues, planners, florists and photographers in the Wedding Builder and send one bundled inquiry to move fast.

Frequently asked

How much does an Amalfi Coast wedding cost?
Villa and terrace venues typically start in the five figures for the venue alone in high season, and per-guest hotel packages are common. Transfers and boat logistics are a real line item here — budget for them separately.
Can we marry legally on the Amalfi Coast?
Yes. Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento maintain licensed civil-ceremony venues for foreign couples, with paperwork via your local authority and the Italian consulate.
How many guests fit on Amalfi Coast terraces?
Most terrace venues seat 60–120; Positano's boutique hotels often cap nearer 60–80. Very large weddings are difficult on this coast.
When is the best time to marry on the Amalfi Coast?
May, June, September and early October give warm evenings and manageable traffic. August is the hottest and most congested month.
