Monaco Wedding Venues

Monaco is a two-square-kilometre wedding: Belle Époque ballrooms in the Casino quarter, private club terraces above Port Hercule, rooftop gardens in Larvotto and Fontvieille, and chartered yachts — everything within walking distance, and nothing rustic.

Grand hotels, club terraces and yachts

The Casino quarter's Belle Époque hotels and event halls are the backbone of Monaco weddings: gilded interiors, professional banqueting teams and capacities from 60 to several hundred seated, with a per-guest minimum spend that reflects the address.

Private club and beach-club terraces above Port Hercule and along Larvotto give an open-air alternative with the harbour or the sea as backdrop. They are best for 60 to 150 guests and usually come with a fixed menu structure rather than an open caterer list.

Rooftop and garden spaces in Fontvieille and the Japanese Garden area suit ceremonies and cocktail receptions, and a chartered yacht is the standard Monaco move for welcome drinks or a second-day brunch along the coast.

Legal ceremony, permits and paperwork

A legal marriage in the Principality generally requires at least one partner to be resident, with a publication period and documents filed at the Mairie de Monaco. Most international couples therefore marry legally at home or in nearby France and hold a symbolic ceremony in Monaco.

Events at state-linked venues and any use of public space, terraces or the harbour need permits arranged through the venue and the Monaco authorities well in advance — nine to twelve months is normal for a peak-season Saturday.

Fireworks, drones, road access for vintage cars and late amplified music are all separately authorised. A Monaco-based planner is effectively required, not optional, to run these filings.

Season, budget and guest logistics

May to early October is the wedding season, with June and September the sweet spot. Avoid Grand Prix week and the Monaco Yacht Show entirely: venues are blocked, hotel rates multiply and the city centre is closed to normal movement.

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is a 25-minute transfer by car, six minutes by helicopter, and there is a direct train along the coast. Guests can also stay in Cap d'Ail, Beausoleil or Èze if Monaco room rates are prohibitive.

Budget per guest is the highest of any Velum destination, so most couples plan a shorter guest list and put the money into venue, food and flowers. Shortlist planners, venues, florists, photographers and stays in the Wedding Builder and send one bundled inquiry.

Preguntas frecuentes

Can we legally marry in Monaco as foreigners?
Usually not without residency: a civil marriage at the Mairie de Monaco requires at least one partner to be resident. International couples marry legally at home or in France and hold a symbolic ceremony in Monaco.
What does a Monaco wedding venue cost?
Grand hotels and club terraces work with a per-guest minimum spend rather than a flat rental. It is the highest cost per guest of any of our destinations, which is why guest lists here tend to be shorter.
How many guests fit into Monaco venues?
Terraces and club spaces suit 60 to 150 guests, while Casino-quarter ballrooms seat from 60 to several hundred.
Which dates should we avoid in Monaco?
Grand Prix week in late May and the Monaco Yacht Show in September — venues, hotels and traffic are all fully committed.
How do guests get to Monaco?
Nice Côte d'Azur airport is about 25 minutes by car or six by helicopter, with a direct coastal train line as an easy alternative.
